Winder categories:

Lead Winder - Distributes and directs work supplied by a Generator Specialist. A "hands-on" worker, assists the assigned crew, and ensures work is being performed safely, correctly, and with the highest level of productivity.

"A" Winder - Experienced in ability to wind Generators. Work closely with "B" and "C" Winders. Receive assistance from Lead Winder when situation arises that is new and specific to a project. Pace setter / Mentor to "B" and "C" Winders.

"B" Winder - Carry out assigned job duties once an A Winder has set up proper procedure for installing the high voltage stator winding. Work side by side with the "A" Winder(s).

"C" Winder - Carry out assigned duties that carry less risk. Assist "A" and "B" Winder(s). Some job duties typically outside of the Generator preparing and staging materials required for the project.

Job Summary:

Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical and electrical subassemblies in a turbine / hydro generator and/or related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Remove high voltage bars, wedges, phase rings, and fans. Shapes, fabricates and/or modifies windings and wedge parts. Perform core inspection testing and repair. Install, test and inspect equipment for defects per instruction, drawings, and product specifications. Interprets blueprints, makes sketches, and performs layout work. Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, assemble, inspect, test, and lubricate mechanical and electrical equipment (high voltage stators ad rotors). Perform basic machining for fitting blocks utilizing small lathe, mill, drill press, table saw, etc. Utilize chemicals such as epoxies, adhesives, coatings, solvents, etc. following established procedures for use, storage, and disposal. Connect and insulate series and Phase connections. Perform heat treatment using induction equipment, torch, gas, resistance, etc. Understand and perform coil installation (Rotor & Stator). Paints generator components as required using either spray or brush as identified in procedures. Perform work considering both quality and cost containment through reductions in rework, cycle times and effective resource utilization. Conduct Final Performance testing. Perform work following all safety procedures and policies. Maintain clean and orderly work area. Work as a team member or independently as the job requires.
